Take a deep dive into the past and uncover the history of Edinburgh with local tour guide and historian, Ruth Boreham

I have provided workshops for the National Library of Scotland, BBC Radio Scotland and John Gray Centre in Haddington, both on site and at schools.

Topics include; World War One, Mary Queen of Scots, Victorians and Jekyll & Hyde.

I now have 4 different Women’s History Walking Tours on offer!

So much to discover – why not come and join me on one?

After obtaining a history degree from Leicester University in 2002, I moved to Edinburgh.

My first job was with the Glasgow University Archive services, a great introduction in to the world of archives and their wonders.

I have since completed research for other television programmes and love the opportunity this gives of sharing fascinating stories from the past with a wider audience.

I have even appeared on the television, in ‘The Boy Who Lived Before’, produced by Octoberfilms, the Matthew Pinsent episode of ‘Who Do You Think You Are’, and talking about the Women’s Land Army on a ‘Landward’ episode (BBC).

“Ruth is a real gem. She clearly has encyclopaedic knowledge about the areas where she does her guiding. She took me and two friends for a 90 minute tour of the Old Town in Edinburgh. We learned so much! […] A fine way to spend time in a great setting. All down to Ruth!”
